USA Swimming CEO Chuck Wielgus recently penned a guest post in The Colorado Springs Business Journal on the importance of volunteerism and it’s impact on his organization.
USA Swimming has more than 35,000 non-athlete members, mostly officials and volunteers. Every member of USA Swimming’s board is a volunteer, and many of our nearly 3,000 clubs have volunteer boards.
For most in our sport, volunteerism begins at an age-group meet where parents first volunteer as timers and judges, work in concessions and fill other administrative roles that help a swim club function.
